Opening Corridor: Keep Moving Until the Crash

Running harder won’t solve every encounter aboard the Tulpar. This Mouthwashing chase walkthrough explains when to move quietly, when to fight, and how to navigate the vents without repeating the same mistake. Spoilers ahead for the nightmare sequences and late-game encounters.

Each section asks you to handle danger differently:

AreaObjectiveKey item or cue
Opening corridorContinue until the crashEmergency key
Cargo hold nightmareReach Polly and take the mouthwashCode scanner
Responsibility ventsClear the backward movement puzzle and maze“No way back” note
GraveyardLand three shots on SwanseaGun
Final vent chaseAvoid the creature and reach the corridorScreen shaking and blurring

The opening escape ends in a scripted collision. Reaching the dead end does not mean you chose the wrong route.

  1. At the collision warning, steer right.
  2. Leave the pilot’s chair and open the locker behind you.
  3. Take the emergency key above the employee card.
  4. Use the key to unlock access to the red autopilot button, then disable autopilot.
  5. Go through the door that opens behind you. Continue forward, opening the doors along the corridor.

Keep going until the lights go out and the crash occurs. There is no alternate escape to find in this hallway.

Cargo Hold: Sneak to Polly’s Mouthwash

During the search for disinfectant, the cargo hold becomes a stealth encounter. The creature responds to noise, so running through the boxes works against you.

  1. Approach the cargo hold entrance, where a tombstone appears.
  2. Activate the code scanner from your inventory to open the way forward.
  3. Descend the steps toward the stacked boxes.
  4. Walk in short stretches rather than running. Use the scanner to locate the creature.
  5. Stop moving when it approaches, then continue once you have room.
  6. Find the collapsed section of the bridge and take the route around its left side.
  7. Reach the Polly statue and collect the bottle of mouthwash it holds.

Focus on reaching the statue quietly. Avoid following the blood trail blindly; it leads to a dead end and forces you to backtrack.

Keep the scanner active while navigating. It helps you track the threat instead of relying only on what you can see directly ahead.

The Weight of Responsibility: Solve the Vent Route

This section contains two navigation puzzles before the graveyard encounter. The first requires backward movement; the second uses a specific sequence of turns.

Pass the “No Way Back” Note

  1. Enter the medical bay and approach the floor hatch.
  2. Collect the utility room key hanging beside it, then drop into the opening.
  3. Move through the ventilation passage until you reach the “No way back” note.
  4. Keep facing the note and press S to move backward.

Turning around at the note returns you to it. Backing away is the action that lets you progress.

When you reach another illuminated vent opening, turn to face that opening and continue backing up. Follow the passage until you emerge in the ship’s corridor, then head downstairs.

Enter the vent framed by axes and follow these directions:

  1. Crawl forward and turn right.
  2. Turn right again.
  3. Take two left turns. Look for light through a vent to check your position.
  4. Move toward the light, then turn left.
  5. Follow the passage as it bends right.
  6. Continue past the glowing flower until you fall into the next area.

Use the light and flower as landmarks. They give you clearer reference points than the otherwise similar vent walls.

Graveyard: Stop Swansea With Three Shots

After the vent route, you reach a room with Swansea. Pick up the gun near the chair, aim, and shoot him to continue into the graveyard sequence.

In the cemetery, Swansea pursues you with an axe. Land three shots to complete the encounter. If he catches you, you respawn and must try again.

  1. Watch for Swansea moving around your position.
  2. Keep checking your surroundings; he tries to approach from behind.
  3. When he advances to strike, face him, aim, and fire.
  4. Repeat until you have landed all three shots.

Try backing into a corner to reduce the directions you need to watch. Keep your attention on the approach in front of you rather than wandering between graves and repeatedly exposing your back.

Treat the shot in the preceding room and the graveyard fight as separate steps. The cemetery encounter still requires its own three hits.

Final Vent Chase: Avoid the Creature and Find the Exit

The later creature chase begins after the ultrasound sequence. Take the ultrasound equipment from the tray on the right and examine the growth inside the ventilation passage. Find the dog-like image and follow it until the device is pulled away and the scene changes.

Once you return to the vents, your objective is to escape while avoiding the creature.

  1. Keep moving through the passages.
  2. Look ahead for connecting turns and openings.
  3. Watch for shaking and blurred vision, which signal that the creature is close.
  4. Take another available passage to avoid moving into it.
  5. Continue through the vent network until you reach a corridor.

Do not reuse the right-right-left-left directions from the earlier axe-lined vent. Those directions solve that earlier maze.

After leaving the vents, approach the door, then turn around and walk into the dark corridor. Continue through the area where employee cards appear, climb the staircase, and approach the Polly statue in the cargo hold-like space. Interact with it to advance.
